Navigating Funding for International Graduate Students & Early Career Scholars
This session will explore the unique challenges international graduate students and early career scholars face when navigating funding landscapes, particularly the restrictions that limit access to many U.S. and Western grants. 1) We will identify key barriers—such as citizenship requirements, institutional eligibility constraints, and cultural or systemic hurdles—and discuss strategies to address them. 2) this session will highlight funding opportunities that are accessible to international scholars, including grants, fellowships, and scholarships from global, institutional, and private foundations. 3) Panelists will share insights on identifying these opportunities, crafting competitive applications, and leveraging mentorship and collaboration to build sustainable support networks. Let’s come together to celebrate the persistence and achievements of international scholars while equipping ourselves with knowledge and tools to overcome funding challenges and support one another in our academic journeys.
